A Letter from Andrew Patterson
As 2021 comes to a close, I find myself incredibly humbled. Twenty years ago, as a young adult in my mid-20s, I left the Bay Area where I lived and drove down to Orange County, CA. Although I didn’t know a single person here, I was determined to make this place my new home. Through the relationships I formed with the incredible people in this community, including the woman who would later become my wife, I was able to start the business I now have today.
My philosophy from day one has been to not only build legacy homes that exceed the minimum building code requirements but also maintain them so that they will last for generations to come. Building where my family and I live means my clients are my own neighbors, so I believe in creating the best product possible for them – one that I am proud to stand behind.

Twenty years later, we have a portfolio of over 236 custom homes. We have received 35 awards and honors, and our homes have been featured by leading industry publications over 50 times. In addition to these accomplishments, I am most proud of the fact that we have been able give back to our community by supporting over 45 local events and programs that have benefitted students and those in need.
None of this would have been possible without my staff, my clients, and the teams we work with. I’m thankful for each of them and all of their hard work. It amazes me that our business started with just my wife and me, and now we are a team of 33 – in addition to our network of subcontractors, vendors, and project teams with whom we collaborate. I believe it is important to surround myself with people who are smarter than me and to make sure that everyone on my team knows they are valued. Each person at Patterson Custom Homes is a specialist in their area of expertise, and by working together and leveraging our strengths we are able to achieve our goals.

As I look forward to the holidays and ringing in the new year, I want to thank everyone who has been a part of our Patterson Family over the last 20 years – every client, colleague, and supporter of our work. We wouldn’t be here without you, and I wish you all a joyful holiday season and a prosperous new year. Here’s to 20 more!
